Eclipse-fm® 2010 New Features

While there are many minor changes in this release of Eclipse-fm® the main emphasis in this release lies in convenience of use for the remote worker and facilitating those NHS Organisations who wish to minimise reliance on paper based records and instructions.

A full list of enhancements and changes is available here.

Task Supervisor Logging.
This is a new feature added that allows a Supervisor to log operatives on and off tasks.

This maintains real time data recording when a remote operative needs to switch tasks at short notice without having immediate access to either Task Logging, MTM or Web Eclipse.

New FeatureMTM Hazard Warning

Hazard Awareness.
This is a new feature that has been added to actively notify the user of any hazards that are present for the work area that relates to the task.

As FM moves more towards realising the goal of a paperless office, reliance on, for example, physically going to a central hazard register location becomes more and more of an avoidable burden.

MTM hazard acknowledgement

The “Agree/Disagree” buttons, which are also effective when tasks are being responded to via Mobile Task Management with PDAs, provide a permanent electronic record of awareness of Health & Safety requirements when hazards exist which can be created from wherever the worker is accessing the Eclipse-fm® system .

This feature is included in all three electronic methods off working with tasks – direct Task Logging, MTM Task notification , and in the Web Eclipse module.

Task Management

Other outstanding tasks for Asset - Click for larger imageCurrent Task List for Asset
Managing the current maintenance status of an asset has been simplified with a new task Helpdesk facility that shows if there are any other outstanding tasks for the specified asset ID allowing the user to view the list of these task tickets.

This new feature makes it much easier to assess the current maintenance status of an asset and schedule the current tasks accordingly. This avoids the “hole in the road” syndrome where no sooner has one gang of workers filled it in than another one comes along and digs it all up again.

Note also the “PDA Controlled” note that appears if appropriate.

Annual Planner - Click for larger imageTask Annual Planner
The Task Annual Planner view now displays the available hours after the tasks selected by the applied filters have been taken into account.

Also, the filtering options have been made easier to understand

Asset Management

Action Bulletins
For sites with multiple locations the management of Action/ Bulletin Notices view, notices and notice tickets has been enhanced by the ability to filter by site as well as Make or Model Type. This simplifies the process of scheduling work associated with the action notice as the affected assets may be groupd by site.

Nested Assets
Many times "an asset" is in fact a collection of assets. A boiler is an asset, but it contains several other items which you may wish to record as identifiable assets in their own right - the pump, heat exchanger, control panel etc. In turn, the pump may have parts which could be assets themselves and theoretically ad infinitum. This is the classic "Start with a Boeing 747 and end up with a rubber tyre" bill of materials type of structure.

This has been pioneered with us by Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHST, and will be included in Eclipse-fm® v5. GOSH are finding it to be a powerful feature for organising assets, particularly with the unlimited levels of "parent/child" association possible. One emerging use has been to make a location an asset - for example a sterilising facility, with the various sterilisers and other equipment identified as sub assets within that "Location Asset". This feature will undoubtedly be used in many unexpected ways, and will generate more user feedback requests to develop it further!

Utilities

System Close Down
A minor administrative convenience, but one that Eclipse-fm® system managers will appreciate is a new facility to allow for the forced log-out of users. When essential maintenance isnecessary such as upgrades, it may have to be done when users are not active in the system, and nothing is more frustrating than waiting for tardy users to log out - or worse, having gone home and forgotten to log out! Now Eclipse-fm® can warn users of an impending close down, and after due time has elapsed, they will be logged off - perfectly safely in relation to any data entry that they may be doing at that point.
