Dudley PCT - Eclipse-fm® training expands opportunities
Dudley PCT has been a user of Eclipse-fm® for some time, but until recently only using the Helpdesk element. They have now been upgraded to bring the web Eclipse features into use, and following detailed training are now using the whole Eclipse-fm® system. The training provided was tailored to the particular needs of this department after consultation with the Asckey training team.
Peter Maybury, Dudley's Estates Manager says "The training modules were delivered in a very user friendly way and involved actual examples of our system as installed, the method of training provided a good deal of support to individual members of our team and one in particular who was a little apprehensive about the alterations to working practices".
Peter also notes that moving to a web based system has resulted in much more efficient working, as tradesmen can now log on to jobs at any site across the PCT, avoiding the need to return to base. This allows high priority tasks can be accessed by trades staff on their next log in, again avoiding any need to return to base to pick up details.
Peter has found that users are also finding a benefit in the web module both as an alternative means of logging work requests and even more beneficially, tracking work in progress. "This is reducing the work load on our help desk operator who is now able to carry on with other tasks".
Improving the Service
Eclipse-fm® has been noted by several trusts as developing a much larger amount of useful data than some of the other FM Systems.
"Following training on the newly installed package we are now able to make use of the large amount of information generated by the system. This has enabled us to track work outstanding and to find ways and means to reduce the number of unfinished tasks. Following analysis of performance figures we have been able to demonstrate the need for additional staff in certain areas and are now recruiting to fill posts".
Asckey comment.
We have always encouraged trusts to take training as a vital part of any Eclipse-fm® installation, and it is nice to see Peter endorsing this. There is a lot to Eclipse-fm®, and it really does pay to take some "time out" to get to fully understand what it can do and how it is going to improve the way the FM department will work.
And, yes, there is a lot of information stored in Eclipse-fm®! Putting that to use is one of the benefits that comes along once you have been using it for a while. Eclipse-fm® is designed to provide extensive feedback on how the department is working and can contribute greatly to the process of continuous improvement that is key to delivering quality of service.
